Ordem e Progresso – Brasil

Image

Details

Client: Governo Federal do Brasil (Brasília, DF)

Designer: Secretaria Especial de Comunicação Social (SECOM) (Brasília, DF)

Years in use: 2016-2018

Remarks: This is the visual identifier used by the Michel Temer government. The mark was introduced on 12 May 2016 by SECOM. A star-studded blue disc, reminiscent of the Brazilian flag, is given a spherical treatment and floated above a perspective-warped, embossed “BRASIL.” The strapline, Governo Federal (“Federal Government”), is similarly embossed and shadowed, typeset in a lighter weight. The latitudinal ribbon, reading Ordem e Progresso (“Order and Progress”), adopts the national motto – and continuing to draw inspiration from the flag, this slogan is also found inscribed on the verde e amarela. The wordmark is available only in horizontal lockup, with the name of ministérios displayed to the left. The symbol contains the Southern Cross, but only 22 of the 27 stars present on the Brazilian flag. This mark is also available in 2D, reference colour, and simplified (for replication at small size) variants. See the graphics package for a complete listing of the NBN holdings.
